Chicago Marshall shooting guard Milton Doyle may soon commit to Kansas, his mother told SNY.tv Tuesday morning.
“Right now he’s just visiting,” Lisa Green said by phone. “We talked about it. I did tell him if he wants to give a verbal commit he can do that. If he really likes it, if they really woo him.”
The 6-foot-4 Doyle has been on campus since Monday and is due to return to Chicago Tuesday night.
“He hasn’t committed yet,” his mother said.
Doyle initially committed to FIU but parted ways once Chicago native Isiah Thomas was fired. (Read more on that here.) (more…)

Norm Roberts is headed back to Kansas.
The former Florida assistant and St. John’s head coach is headed back to serve on Bill Self’s staff as a replacement for Danny Manning, who took the Tulsa job.
“I’m thrilled,” Self told the Journal-World. “We were together for nine years. My family helped raise his kids. His family has helped raise mine. We’re close. Certainly we hate to see Danny go, but Norm coming back will be a big bonus to our program.” (more…)

NEW ORLEANS -- There’s Manny being Manny.
And now there’s Tyshawn being Tyshawn.
In the span of a few heart-stopping moments late Saturday night, Taylor gaveth and he tooketh away.
The Hoboken, N.J., native and former St. Anthony star hit two clutch foul shots with 8.3 seconds remaining to give Kansas a three-point lead after they had trailed by as many as 13 in the national semifinals against Ohio State.
And then, in the blink of an eye, he stole an inbounds pass from Lenzelle Smith and fired a crosscourt bounce pass to Elijah Johnson then ended up going to Kansas coach Bill Self instead. (more…)

NEW ORLEANS — Tyshawn Taylor, the kid from Hoboken, N.J. who’s had a rocky four years at Kansas, is two victories from a rare double high school/college national championship.
Taylor was a member of Bob Hurley’s undefeated 2007-8 St. Anthony team that produced six Division I-bound seniors and won the mythical national championship.
Now, he’s here in the Final Four as the leader of a Kansas team that faces Ohio State Saturday night in the national semifinals.
“I actually believe that Tyshawn would play at this level since we recruited him,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “He played on that great St. Anthony’s team that won the national championship and all five guys went to high-major schools. I thought Ty was the best prospect out of everybody.” (more…)

The widespread perception may be that Kentucky, UCLA, Duke or even UNLV may end up securing the services of 6-foot-6 senior wing Shabazz Muhammad, but his father says Kansas has a legitimate shot to land his son.
“Kansas has a real shot, definitely,” Ron Holmes told SNY.tv Monday following his son’s official visit there this past weekend. “They did a great job.”
Muhammad and his father visited for the Border War — an 87-86 OT win Saturday over Missouri — and also spent time with fellow 2012 uncommitted players Tony Parker and JaKarr Sampson.
“When you go on these official visits, you might have a perception about a school but you can really see yourself playing there if the official visit goes right and the official visit definitely went right,” Holmes said. (more…)

The game is set for March 28 at the United Center in Chicago and is preceded by several days of practices.

Shabazz Muhammad is headed to visit Kansas after putting on a magnificent performance in the state championship game.
The 6-foot-6 swingman scored 30 of his game-high 36 points Friday night to lead Las Vegas Bishop Gorman to a 96-51 victory over Reno Hug High School in the Nevada 4A state championship game.
Muhammad outscored Hug, 30-25, and only missed one shot in the first half en route to leading Gorman to its third state title in four years.
“The first half was quite a display,” Gorman coach Grant Rice told the Las Vegas Sun. “Shabazz will be the first to say, he gets the spotlight because of his scoring, his highlight dunks and his rankings, but we don’t win this championship without all these guys. We don’t even come close.” (more…)
